A member of Google's Pixel product series, the Pixel 6a is a smartphone running Android that was created, produced, and marketed by the company. The Pixel 6a's body is made of aluminum, the back is plastic, and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The Pixel 6a has two cameras on the back. The front-facing camera has an 8-megapixel sensor, and both the wide-angle 27 mm f/1.7 lens and the extremely wide 114 °F/2.2 lens have 12-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX363 sensors. It can capture video in 4K at 30 and 60 frames per second.

When the Pixel 6a was first released, Android 12 was already in its stable release on the Android open-source Project.[9] Major OS upgrades are anticipated to arrive after three years, and security patches after five years.[10][11] In the early weeks following launch, the gadget received a firmware upgrade with a boot to enable modification.
Upon its release, the Pixel 6a received a ton of positive feedback, with particular attention paid to its worth proposition, sustainability, design, cameras, and "flagship-level" speed provided by Google's exclusive Tensor system-on-chip. However, reviewers bemoaned the absence of a headphone connection, a microSD card slot, and a standard 60 Hz speed of refresh screen, which they believed made the device uncompetitive in its class. Some people believed Google did not live up to the battery endurance claims made, claiming the battery would quickly discharge after 24 hours of a great deal and would take a long time to recharge.Others discovered that the device became exceptionally hot between charges and under moderate to prolonged usage, and that they could detect significant thermal throttling while doing a series of endurance tests while playing CPU-intensive games.

Known problems
Security flaws in the fingerprint sensor cause it to identify unregistered fingerprints. The Pixel 6a in particular appears to have the problem since it has a distinct optical fingerprint sensor compared to those used in the more expensive Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro handsets.[23][24][25][26] Mid-September 2022 saw the release of a software update that may have fixed these problems.
